George Russell makes his F1 debut in Brazil

GP3 champion and Mercedes protege George Russell will make his F1 debut at Friday free practice in Interlagos.

The newly crowned British GP3 champion will make his first Grand Prix weekend debut with Force India, stepping in for Sergio Perez driving the VJM10.

The 19-year old will also drive in first practice at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in place of Esteban Ocon.

“I’m extremely excited to be driving in free practice for Force India in Brazil and Abu Dhabi,” said Russell

The Mercedes Junior and GP3 champion has  impressed teams throughout the paddock.

“George is an up-and-coming talent and we’ve followed his success in GP3 closely,” said Force India Team Principle Vijay Mallya

George isn’t the only British up-and-coming race driver making headlines, as 17-year-old Lando Norris has just been announced to replace Jenson Button as McLaren’s reserve driver.
